In 1944 and 1945 the Linlithgowshire Gazette ran two pieces by an unknown contributor who was brought up in the vicinity of the House of Binns and is known to us only as W.S (Avenues).
The first article appeared over two issues of the paper on 26th May and 14th June 1944 and the second was spread over three issues between August and September 1945.
