Coat of arms of Sir James Dalrymple of Stair: a quartered shield carved with a saltire decorated with nine lozenges (first and fourth quarters), and a chevron chequy with two water bougets above and one water bouget below (second and third quarters). Above the shield is a front-facing helmet with open visor, surmounted by a rock. Above is a ribbon with motto. Either side is large-leaved foliage.

South side of the stairs to front door
Coat of arms of the Green family: a shield decorated with a standing woman holding a sword in her right hand and a set of scales in her left. Above her is an open book. Above the shield is a helmet with closed visor surmounted by a hand holding a holly branch. At the top of the coat of arms is a ribbon with motto. Either sde is large-leaved foliage.
Motto: ERST . WÄGEN . DANN . WAGEN German: First weigh then dare.

North elevation stepped gable with four figures and two blank heraldic shields surrounding infilled arched window.
North Elevation left, bust of male.
Male bust with moustache, wearing a patterned hat and an ermine (?) cape decorated with fleurs de lis.
The bust sits on top of two vertical pedestals (one on top of the other), the upper one with incised
decoration, built into the wall so that the corner points forward.
May have come from nearby St Catherine’s Chapel, possibly from a family tomb.

Bust of a bearded knight wearing a helmet with raised visor, and a heavy fur cape which forms a pyramid beneath his collar. The bust sits on top of two vertical pedestals (one on top of the other), the upper one with incised decoration, set into the wall so that the corner points forward.
May have come from nearby St Catherine’s Chapel, possibly from a family tomb.
